Temporary Communications Associate

Location: Van Nuys, CA

Please be advised there is a temporary Professional Staff position available for a Communications Associate. 

The primary purpose of this job is to support the organization’s initiatives through public relations. This position provides PR support for the campaign in the Northeast and West Coast regions and other departmental tasks as assigned.

                                Accountabilities:            
•    Day-to-day management of public and media relations for campaign staff within the region. Key to this responsibility is building a relationship with local Jewish and secular media.
o    Serve as an excellent storyteller and be able to share great stories with various publics, constituents and audiences.
o    Devise, submit and follow-up with placement on local press releases
o    Create local angle for national press releases
o    Manage local media data base and clippings
o    Frequently pitch JNF and organizational-related stories to press
o    Edit marketing collateral

This position will work closely with local Campaign staff and event planner, Director of Communications; Senior Communications Coordinator and Communications Manager.

Qualifications:
o    Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
o    Excellent written and oral communications skills a must
o    Attention to detail
o    Ability to manage expectations and deliver on tasks within a designated time frame
o    Pro-active and energetic; ability to work on own with minimal on-site daily supervision
o    Some understanding of print production
o    Minimum 2 years work experience
o    Bachelor’s degree
