Mark your calendars!  Jewish National Fund is please to announce our second annual Walk for Water, which will take place on Sunday, May 1, 2011 at 2 PM.  We need your support to make this fundraiser a success.

The walk is named in loving memory of Susan Shpeen, a beloved woman who adored Israel.

The event will raise funds for the JNF-Parsons Water Fund, which focuses on creating new water sources as well as preserving and improving existing ones.  This event will not only provide a means to raise money for this worthwhile project and raise awareness of the severe water problem facing Israel, but will also pay tribute to a very special person, Susan Shpeen.

As you well know, Israel is experiencing its worst water crisis in 80 years—the Kinneret’s water is nearing the “black line,”  a dangerously low level which would make Israel’s main fresh water supply no longer able to provide.  Families are struggling with increased water costs and farmers are going out of business because of significant cuts in fresh water allocation in order to conserve water.  An adequate water supply is critical to Israel’s future, and it is our responsibility to combat this crisis and not let Israel go dry.
