Tribute to Southern Israel

Free Concert featuring 2011 Israeli Idol Winner Hagit Yaso

Hagit Yaso’s parents immigrated to Israel from Ethiopia in the 1980’s through Sudan and Yaso was born in Sderot, Israel. From an early age she loved to sing, and became a member of the band “Sderot Youth.” In 2011, Yaso participated in the Kokhav Nolad 9 - Israel’s version of American Idol. From the beginning of the show, Yaso, the assistant daycare provider of her Kibbutz in Sderot, stood out. Yaso ended up winning first place with 60% of the vote. Yaso instantly became Israel’s Cinderella story and has inspired thousands of olim.
