Hagit Yaso’s parents immigrated to Israel from Ethiopia in the 1980’s through Sudan and Yaso was born in Sderot, Israel. From an early age she loved to sing, and became a member of the band “Sderot Youth.” In 2011, Yaso participated in the Kokhav Nolad 9 - Israel’s version of American Idol. From the beginning of the show, Yaso, the assistant daycare provider of her Kibbutz in Sderot, stood out. Yaso ended up winning first place with 60% of the vote. Yaso instantly became Israel’s Cinderella story and has inspired thousands of olim. VIP tickets are also available with a new or recent $1,000 donation to JNF’s 2013 Campaign.
