Join us to experience the multicultural foods of the Middle East.
The Arava Institute for Environmental Studies offers a life changing academic program that brings students together using environmental study as a shared goal, teaching them essential skills for becoming future leaders. JNF’s partnership with the Arava Institute provides student scholarships and supports the creation of new dormitories, classrooms, and other facilities on the state-of-the-art campus. In addition, a group of JNF cyclists participate in the Arava Institute Hazon Israel Ride, an annual bike ride to raise money for the Arava Institute.
Guest Speaker Rabbi Michael Cohen, Friends of the Arava Institute’s Director of Community Relations, is a long time environmental activist and a founding faculty member of the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies. Since 2000 he has divided his time between Vermont and Kibbutz Ketura, Israel. He has written extensively about the environment and the Middle East peace process in North American and Middle Eastern publications, is the author of Einstein’s Rabbi: A Tale of Science and the Soul, and is currently a faculty member at Bennington College, Vermont.
