Hear from Seth M. Siegel, Author of Let There Be Water: Israel's Solution for a Water-Starved World, Mark Lambert, CEO of IDE Americas and Yaki Lopez, Consul for Political Affairs at the Consulate General of Israel in Los Angeles


Author Seth M. Siegel is a businessman, activist, and writer. His essays have appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times and other publications around the world on business, political and cultural issues. Siegel has often appeared on television and has been widely quoted in major print media. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. While writing Let There Be Water: Israel's Solution For A Water-Starved World, interviewing and visiting Israel's water developments, Siegel developed a deep appreciation for JNF's huge impact on Israel's water economy.

Yaki Lopez assumed the position of the Consul for Political Affairs at the Consulate General of Israel in Los Angeles in August 2014 having formerly served as the Deputy Ambassador to Nairobi, Kenya with jurisdiction in various East African nations. While there he was appointed as Israel's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environmental Program as well as to the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat). While in Nairobi, Mr. Lopez spearheaded an unprecedented trilateral initiative between Israel, Germany and Kenya aimed at improving the livelihoods of Kenyans by solving issues of hunger and food insecurity. Born in Guatemala into a family of Israeli diplomats, Mr. Lopez has lived in five countries and speaks four languages and is a third generation career diplomat.

Mark Lambert is CEO of IDE Americas, a world leader in water treatment solutions. IDE specializes in the development, engineering, construction and operation of enhanced desalination and industrial water treatment plants and leads the water industry with some of the world’s most advanced thermal and membrane desalination plants. IDE also has a proven experience in ground-breaking industrial water treatment plants that deliver a reliable, sustainable and economical solution for industry. Lambert is responsible for all IDE activities in the Americas, EPC, BO, BOOT project delivery methods in the global Desalination market as well as Industrial Waste Water Treatment in select target markets including Oil and Gas, Power Generation and Mining.

Toby Roy is the Regulatory Manager for the San Diego County Water Authority, the wholesale supplier of safe and reliable water to San Diego County for over 3 million residents. As Regulatory Manager, Roy is responsible for tracking, reviewing and engaging on regulatory and policy issues impacting the Water Authority on the local, state and federal levels including issues related to energy management, water supply, water quality, conservation, safe drinking water and environmental impacts. Prior to joining the Water Authority, Roy was in the Drinking Water and Environmental Management Division of California Department of Health Services, responsible for the regulation of public drinking systems.
