Honorees: Elaine Land-Dexter and Carol Horwich Luber

Born in Denver and raised in Los Angeles, Elaine Land-Dexter has been a resident of Palm Springs and the desert area for the past 60 years. As owner of Land Shoes she has worked most of her life in the business world. She has been a member of Temple Isaiah since 1954 and soon became involved with Jewish Federation and American Friends of Hebrew University. In 2008 Elaine became part of Jewish National Fund. An active Board Member, Elaine has traveled to Israel as part of a 35 country leadership conference, participating in dedications of various JNF projects. Elaine has chaired various Desert Region JNF fundraising campaigns and events. She is a member of the Sapphire Society, and a supporter of Temple Isaiah and AIPAC.

Born and raised in Chicago, Carol Horwich Luber has been a permanent resident of the desert area for the past 9 years. Carol has a Master's Degree in Education and has worked for many years in Los Angeles and the desert area as an Educational Consultant and Therapist. An avid supporter of Jewish and non-Jewish organizations and the State of Israel, Carol has held leadership positions on the regional JNF Board, Palm Springs Jewish Federation, and Women's Philanthropy Board. She was an active volunteer, serving as a math and reading specialist for the Jewish Community School of the Desert.

Guest Speaker: Bret Stephens

Bret Stephens is an American journalist who won a Pulitzer Prize in 2013 and holds the distinction of having interviewed every Israeli prime minister since Shimon Peres. He currently works for The Wall Street Journal as the foreign-affairs columnist and the deputy editorial page editor and is a regular panelist on FOX’s “Journal Editorial Report.” From 2002 to 2004, he was Editor in Chief of the Jerusalem Post.
