On March 14, 2012, celebrated
Broadway star Dudu
Fisher will perform at the Broward Center for the Performing
Arts at 7:00 pm. Best known for
playing Jean Valjean in Les Misérables around the
world, his performance will benefit a number of causes, including the
Jewish National
Fund (JNF) Negev Educational Visitor Center, a JNF
Blueprint
Negev project.
JNF is building the Negev Educational Center in
partnership with the OR Movement, co-founded by
Dudu’s son Ofir
Fisher, making this event truly a father and son
endeavor. The OR Movement’s mission is to turn Israel's Negev and Galilee
regions into an attractive place to live by building self-sustaining communities
in the desert.
Proceeds from ticket sales will support the Negev
Educational Visitor Center and the Blueprint Negev campaign, a
far-reaching and visionary plan to increase the population and improve living
conditions for the inhabitants of Israel’s southern region. Once completed, the
first-ever visitor center focused on the Negev region will provide an emotional
and educational tour through the past, present and future of Israel. It will
guide visitors through all aspects of life in the region and the many
opportunities available, and serve as the main tool to facilitate the goal of
relocating 300,000 people to the Negev by 2020.
Lawrence Van Gelder of
The New York
Times has said of Dudu Fisher, “Fisher displays a talent
that resists confinement and is an explosion of religious faith.” From the great
synagogue in Tel Aviv to the great stages of Tel Aviv, London and New York,
Fisher is an international superstar. As an observant Jew, he was the first
actor on Broadway and in the West End to be excused from performing on Friday
nights, Saturday matinees and all Jewish holidays. In addition to his brilliant
renditions of Broadway music, he continues to perform traditional Hassidic,
Yiddish and cantorial music to audiences all over the world.
Premium
seating is available for those who receive tickets through a donation to JNF,
which include a private dessert reception with Dudu Fisher following his evening
performance. In addition to individual tickets, sponsorships are available that
include JNF society memberships, permanent recognition in Israel, special gifts
and much more. For information on how to make a donation and receive tickets to
the event, please contact Marc Birch at mbirch@jnf.org or
