South Florida

Welcome to the South Florida Regional page. We hope you will consider attending upcoming events, joining a JNF Mission to Israel or becoming involved with JNF as a volunteer.  Please do not hesitate to contact us with your thoughts and comments.  We look forward to hearing from you!

The Zimmerman Family of Boca Raton, FL

Michael Zimmerman and Elaine Shapiro have Israel in their hearts and souls. Cantor Elaine Shapiro and Michael have passed their love of their Jewish homeland and the understanding that it is up to those of us in the Diaspora to support her to their three children, Orli, Gili and Ari. Elaine has been a member of the JNF South Palm Beach Board of Directors for many years, is  JNF’s Israel Advocacy and Education Chair for the South Palm Beach area, developed and runs the monthly Rosh Chodesh  meetings and is a member of the Sapphire Society, JNF’s women’s Major Gift Society.  She and Michael are members of JNF’s President’s Society. Michael owns and operates Zimmerman Tree Service, the premier tree service company in South Florida. Orli and Ari work in the business with their father.   All three children belong to JNFuture, the gateway to the next generation.

Lighthouse Point resident Ike Taffel, along with other Jewish National Fund (JNF) supporters from across the country, took part in JNF’s Israel @65 Mission in honor of Yom Hazikaron, Israel’s Memorial Day. The mission participants attended the opening ceremony at Mt. Herzl, which marked the start of Yom Ha’atzmaut, Israel’s Independence Day. This was Taffel’s 2nd mission with JNF as he attended the Road to Jerusalem Mission in May 2012 after seeing an informational ad placed by JNF in the Jewish Journal. Taffel, a retired Sergeant/Helicopter Gunner in the U.S. Army was honored at Ammunition Hill, the site of Jerusalem’s liberation, for his service from 1964-1967. “I am honored to have my name on this monument next to former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s plaque along with many other heroic and courageous Jewish soldiers who have fought in defense of their countries,” said Taffel.

Get Involved

JNF events and efforts throughout the year require partnership from our community. When more people are involved, we can do so much more to help Israel! If you wish to serve as an honored volunteer, a community leader and/or a member of the JNF campaign cabinet, please call the Boca office at 561.447.9733 or send us an email.

JNF’s donor societies are reserved for a select group of people who have demonstrated an enduring commitment to Israel and JNF.
