JNF Western Party

JNF Western Party
Hosted by Deena & Marty Singer
Saturday, August 20, 2011

The evening will benefit two Jewish National Fund Programs which provide Animal Therapy to Children with Disabilities (Aleh Negev) and promote Middle East peace through Environmental Studies (Arava Institute).

Jewish National Fund, through our Blueprint Negev initiative, is making a major impact in the region by partnering with Aleh Negev, an organization that provides children with severe cognitive and physical disabilities throughout Israel with high-level medical and rehabilitative care to help them realize their full potential.  Through our fundraising efforts, JNF supports and enhances this remarkable village by funding new therapeutic facilities, including a petting zoo and therapeutic horseback riding center. The Safari Petting Zoo will have the capacity of offering 600 animal therapy treatments weekly (30,000 annually), including a vocational therapy workshop. It will serve Aleh Negev’s 250 residents and over 3,000 people from the surrounding areas in need of animal therapy.

The Arava Institute for Environmental Studies (AIES) is the premier environmental education and research program in the Middle East, preparing future Arab and Jewish leaders to cooperatively solve the region's environmental challenges. Students at AIES study a range of environmental issues from a trans-boundary and interdisciplinary perspective while learning peace-building and leadership skills.
