Julie Kahn to be honored at JNF's Annual Golf Tournament

On July 23, Julie Kahn, Senior Vice President for New England Entercom Communications, will be honored at Jewish National Fund’s annual New England golf tournament.

Giving back to the community has always been a big part of Julie’s life. Growing up in Detroit, she was greatly influenced by her parents community involvement, who instilled strong Jewish values and a desire to help those in need. Julie’s mother, Patricia, converted to Judaism before Julie was born, and was the manager of the Holocaust Museum in Orlando. Her father, Norman, worked in real estate development and helped build Bar Ilan University in Israel.

When Julie was 17 years old she travelled to Israel on her father’s behalf to accept an honorary doctorate from Bar Ilan. It was during that trip that Julie fell in love with the country. “I spent a few weeks traveling in Israel and was incredibly moved by what they accomplished there in such little time” she shared. “I’ve done a lot of traveling around the world, but Israel is the most magnificent place, like no other.”

When JNF approached Julie about honoring her at the golf tournament, she thought that it was a perfect way for her to combine two of her passions: helping others and Israel. The 110-year-old nonprofit organization improves quality of life in Israel through its community building, environmental and education work.

“I know that my father is proud of me. I’ve always tried to give back to the communities I’ve lived in, and teach my daughter the same values that my parents taught me,” shared Julie. “Leading by example is the best way to show her how to care for others in need.”

Julie’s roots with JNF go back to her childhood, when she would send JNF tree certificates as gifts to friends and family. “JNF is making Israel a more beautiful place for people to live,” remarked Julie. “Israel is a beacon of democracy in the Middle East, and an important example of what we can achieve. JNF is helping Israel reach its goals every day.”

“Working with Julie is an honor. She is dynamic, creative and passionate,” said JNF Regional Director Sara Hefez. “She brings a fresh perspective to this year’s tournament.”

The golf tournament and tribute dinner will take place on July 23 at the Spring Valley Country Club in Sharon, MA. For more information or to register as a golfer or dinner guest, contact Melissa Schwartz at mschwartz@jnf.org or 617.423.0999 ext. 807.
