Carol Ford Freidkin
Chair, Sapphire Society
Carol Ford Freidkin is a General Dentist specializing in Cosmetic and Rehabilitative Dentistry in Phoenix, AZ. Carol received her D.D.S. from the University of Washington Dental School in 1983 and moved back to her native Phoenix, Arizona home to begin her career.
Carol has long been involved in her local community. From 1993 to 1996, she served on the board of the Greater Phoenix JCC as Chair of the Early Childhood Committee. Carol currently is serving as the Chair of the Sapphire Society.
Her first trip to Israel, which she made with her husband Steve, was the JNF’s Jerusalem 3000 Mission in 1996. Although she had long dreamed of traveling to Israel, her first trip was made at the height of the first Intifada, which was not an easy time to go. The tour included areas of the North that were the periodic targets of rocket fire. The trip changed the lives of Carol and Steve. Carol was not born Jewish, and on her return to Arizona she started the process of becoming a Jew by choice. Therefore Carol brings a unique perspective on Judaism and the JNF.
Carol has returned to Israel many times since her first trip, each time with a JNF mission. One of those missions was the first women-only mission, "Israel, Through Tears and Laughter". That mission moved Carol to become a Major Donor, and to join the Circle of Sapphire. In addition, Carol’s involvement as a JNF lay leader has grown. In 2005 Carol became a member of JNF’s Arizona Board. She serves on the Executive Committee and has served as the Campaign Chair. Carol is now serving her first year as Chair of the National Sapphire Board of Directors.
