Rebecca H. Fischer

President, Broward County and Chair, Central Arava CommitteeRebecca

The immediate past Chair of Makor and current President of Jewish National Fund in Broward County, Rebecca Fischer is also currently the Chair of the JNF Central Arava Committee.  She is passionate about the work of the Jewish National Fund and deeply committed to Israel and the Jewish people.

Beckie has a long history of involvement in her community.  Beckie currently serves as Vice President of Development for Kesher, a Jewish Day School for children with special needs, particularly children on the autism spectrum, in North Miami Beach, Florida.  Beckie was Chair of AIPAC for Broward County and was a member of the Executive Committee of AIPAC's national board.  She served as the Women's Division Co-President and a Vice President at Large for Jewish Federation of Broward County.  She served as the Chair of the National UJC Planning for Delivery of Human Services Committee under the UJC Human Services and Social Policy Pillar and on the National Women's Philanthropy Board of UJC.  Beckie was the Programming Chair for the 2004 International Lion of Judah Conference.  Beckie was also a member of the National Young Leadership Cabinet and Co-Chaired the Southeast Region during her tenure on Cabinet.  In addition, while on Cabinet, Beckie served as Associate Campaign Chair and the Jewish Agency for Israel Liaison.  Beckie was a board member for the American Committee for the Weizmann Institute Women in Science and on the Board of Governors of Hillel Community Day school.  She is a past president of the Leukemia Society of America South Florida.


Beckie received many community service and leadership awards over the years, including recognition as a 2001 Weizmann Institute Women of Vision Honoree and the 2003 State of Israel Bonds Women's Division Honoree.  She received the Community Service and Leadership Award in 2000 from her Federation’s Women's Division and the Community Service Award from Broward County Jewish Family Services in 1999.  Beckie received the Jewish Federation of Broward County Young Leadership Award in 1994 and was a recipient of her Federation’s President’s Award in 2002 and 2003.

Beckie practices law with the partnership of Lehr Fischer & Feldman in Hollywood, Florida, specializing in estate planning, probate and guardianship and family law.  She graduated Dean's List from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, California in 1982 and is admitted to practice law in California and Florida.  She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology in 1979, With Distinction, from the University of Redlands in Redlands, California.

Beckie has three children.  Danielle, 22, a graduate of George Washington University and a member of the JNF National Speaker's Bureau.  Danielle interned for the JNF/KKL Education Department in Israel.  Joshua, 19, is a freshman the University of Pennsylvania and was a participant in the Alexander Muss High School in Israel and the March of the Living.  Aaron, 12, is a 7th grader at Hillel Community Day School after being mainstreamed from the Kesher program.  The family belongs to Young Israel of Hollywood.
