Originally from the Boston Area, Bob’s background includes the Hebrew Teachers College (now Hebrew College), Camp Yavneh, and the Zamir Chorale of Boston.
Since moving to New York, Bob and his family affiliated closely with their local congregation, the Brooklyn Heights Synagogue, a Reform congregation. Bob and his wife Susan have both served on the Executive Committee of the Board, Bob as treasurer, Susan as president, and Bob delivers an annual Yom Kippur Appeal speech that over the years has featured puppets, rap and Broadway music, and sports casting to bring some excitement and humor to annual audience fund raising.
Bob came to JNF relatively recently, after his retirement from a career in Executive Compensation for Fortune 500 companies. His first President’s Mission, in 2015, rekindled a passion for Israel’s pioneering spirit particularly in the Negev, as seen in the JNF projects and partners visited during that trip. Since then, Bob has gone on the Billion Dollar Roadmap mission, as part of the Yerucham Task Force. In April 2017, Bob served as co-chair of the Inaugural Yerucham Bike Ride in April, 2017.
In late 2016, Bob and Susan led an innovative mission of their friends, not major JNF donors, to visit JNF projects in the Negev. Although no commitment was required before or after the trip, many in the group experienced the same immediate affinity for JNF as Bob and Susan, and the participants now include a new Sapphire Society member, and at least one new task force member.
Bob and Susan live in Brooklyn, and so do their two daughters, their husbands, and the grandchildren.
