Yossi Kahana, a native-born Israeli, began his professional career at Magen David Adom (MDA) the Israel's official emergency service where he worked as a paramedic and created a volunteer arm, available 24 hours a day. He began his tenure with ALEH, Israel's largest network of residential facilities for children with severe physical and cognitive disabilities.in 1998 as Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer in charge of government relations and advocated to change laws to benefit people with disabilities. He attended Bar Ilan University’s School of Social Work, where he studied non-profit management.
In 2000, Yossi was appointed Director for Aleh Negev, Aleh’s new state-of-the-art rehabilitative village in the Negev. In 2004, he relocated to the United States to coordinate fundraising activities for this $50 million project. In addition, he has made inroads into fostering relationships between universities and centers for special children here in the States and in Israel.
Yossi is a member of the advisory board of The Friendship Circle International; today's fastest growing Jewish organization for children with special needs. With over 79 locations worldwide the Friendship Circle has cultivated friendships between 5,000 special children and close to 11,000 teen volunteers.
Yossi is married to Baily. Together they are proud parents who know what it means to raise child with disabilities. They are also the co-founders of JoyDew -a social enterprise with the mission to create Autism Friendly sustainable company that will train people with Autism to work in areas they have “Unique Ability” and competitive edge.
