October 11, 2011 –- New York, NY -- It has been 45 years since the reunification of Jerusalem marked a significant turning point in the Six Day War and the history of the State of Israel. Jewish National Fund (JNF) will commemorate this anniversary on the Road to Jerusalem Mission: 45 Years After the Reunification, May 15-22, 2012.
Exclusive to JNF will be VIP status at the State of Israel’s official Jerusalem Day ceremony at Ammunition Hill. Participants will gather with high-level dignitaries including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Shimon Peres, and Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat to commemorate the unforgettable and inspiring experience at the site of the pivotal heroic battle.
"I have been to Israel many times so I can say with absolute surety that no one can show you Israel like JNF can," said mission chair Kenneth Segel, JNF Assistant Vice President, Community Relations. "It is a magical combination of a unique perspective, a century-old attachment to the land, the reception they receive from people who are affected by their work, and entrée to people and places that others don’t have. This trip will be no exception. On top of a stunning itinerary, the Official Ceremony of the 45th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem will be a miraculous celebration for all. The ceremony at Ammunition Hill, with Prime Minister Netanyahu, President Shimon Peres and Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat – exclusive to JNF – will be something participants will remember for the rest of their lives."
This once-in-a-lifetime experience will also take mission participants to key sites in Jerusalem where they will learn about the battles which shaped the course of the Six Day War leading up to the reunification of Jerusalem.
Day tours will include a visit to an IDF base for an exclusive tour with soldiers and to learn about daily life in the IDF, a tour of Gush Etzion to hear the stories of the brave men and women who fought in one of the deadliest battles during the War of Independence; and a trip to the Negev to visit JNF projects including the Sderot Indoor Recreation Center and the Ayalon Institute. The mission will visit the new Harvey Hertz JNF Ceremonial Tree Planting Center at Neot Kedumim, Har Herzl, and the Golan Heights. There will also be optional walking tours of the Old City of Jerusalem and Masada and the Dead Sea.

JEWISH NATIONAL FUND (JNF) began in 1901 as a dream and vision to reestablish a homeland in Israel for Jewish people everywhere. Jews the world over collected coins in iconic JNF Blue Boxes, purchasing land and planting trees until ultimately, their dream of a Jewish homeland was a reality. JNF gives all generations of Jews a unique voice in building a prosperous future for the land of Israel and its people.
JNF embodies both heart and action; our work is varied in scope but singular in benefit. We strive to bring an enhanced quality of life to all of Israel’s residents, and translate these advancements to the world beyond. JNF is greening the desert with millions of trees, building thousands of parks, creating new communities and cities for generations of Israelis to call home, bolstering Israel’s water supply, helping develop innovative arid-agriculture techniques, and educating both young and old about the founding and importance of Israel and Zionism.
JNF is a registered 501(c)(3) organization and United Nations NGO, which continuously earns top ratings from charity overseers.
