December 20, 2006 -- San Diego, CA -- From April 19-30, 2007, join Jewish National Fund and San Diego residents Batsheva Feldman and Dorith Weinbaum on the annual JNF People to People Mission and discover the history, culture, and beauty of Israel while seeing firsthand the critical work that JNF is doing to help the Jewish homeland in its continued growth and survival.
Whether you have been to Israel too many times to count or would like to plan your first visit, there is nothing like a trip with JNF Travel & Tours, no more exciting time to go than during Yom Ha'atzmaut, and no one better to guide you than native Israelis Feldman and Weinbaum.
"With over 100 years of experience as caretaker of the land of Israel, JNF is able to show you a side of Israel few people know, above and beyond the classic tourist sites," said Feldman, JNF San Diego regional director and mission coordinator. "Mission participants gain a true understanding of the country's history and the impact of JNF as part of Israel’s past, present and future."
Feldman will be leading JNF's People to People Mission with chairperson Dorith Weinbaum and an expert Israeli tour guide. The group will be in Israel for the commemoration of Yom Hazikaron, Israel’s Memorial Day, followed by the joyous festivities of Yom Ha’atzmaut. Participants will attend an emotional memorial ceremony as well as celebrate Israel’s 59th birthday in the heart of Jerusalem with thousands of Israelis.
The itinerary will take them from the Old City of Jerusalem to the modern metropolis of Tel Aviv, stopping at important Jewish and Christian sites throughout Israel. They will float in the Dead Sea; take a cable car ride to the top of Massada; and hear from Israeli journalists, politicians, and other prominent personalities.
They will meet the modern-day pioneers who are making their home in new communities in the Negev -- fulfilling the dream of David Ben Gurion of bringing life to the desert -- and see firsthand how JNF’s Blueprint Negev campaign is dramatically changing the face of the region. They will also learn about JNF’s efforts to make northern Israel home again after this summer’s war through its 10-year, $400 million, worldwide Operation Northern Renewal campaign.

JEWISH NATIONAL FUND (JNF) began in 1901 as a dream and vision to reestablish a homeland in Israel for Jewish people everywhere. Jews the world over collected coins in iconic JNF Blue Boxes, purchasing land and planting trees until ultimately, their dream of a Jewish homeland was a reality. JNF gives all generations of Jews a unique voice in building a prosperous future for the land of Israel and its people.
JNF embodies both heart and action; our work is varied in scope but singular in benefit. We strive to bring an enhanced quality of life to all of Israel’s residents, and translate these advancements to the world beyond. JNF is greening the desert with millions of trees, building thousands of parks, creating new communities and cities for generations of Israelis to call home, bolstering Israel’s water supply, helping develop innovative arid-agriculture techniques, and educating both young and old about the founding and importance of Israel and Zionism.
JNF is a registered 501(c)(3) organization and United Nations NGO, which continuously earns top ratings from charity overseers.
