Community Women to be Honored at Jewish National Fund Woman of Valor Event;Lebanese Journalist Speaks on Behalf of Israel

pr sonenshineNewport Beach,CA -- August 23, 2006-- Jewish National Fund (JNF) will pay tribute to two outstanding women in the community when the Woman of Valor Award is bestowed on Hazel Dyer and The Honorable Sheila Sonenshine. 

The award ceremony and reception will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2006, at Temple Bat Yahm, 1001 Camelback St., Newport Beach,CAfrom 5-7 p.m.

pr hazelThe Woman of Valor Award was established by JNF to honor women in the Jewish community who exemplify a dedication to improving the quality of life for their fellow citizens. Past Woman of Valor honorees include Judith Burnett, Desiree Kessel and Flory Van Beek.

Brigitte Gabriel will keynote the reception. A native Lebanese Arab, Ms. Gabriel offers a timely first-hand account of her personal experiences of growing up in southern Lebanon. Ms. Gabriel tells of being fed fabricated lies by the Lebanese government about the Jews and Israelis. She has given over 100 lectures, inspiring and empowering audiences to take action to protect America and support Israel.

Pr BrigitteProceeds from the Woman of Valor Award event will go to The William and Elizabeth Shatner/Jewish National Fund Therapeutic Riding Consortium Endowment for Israel. The goal of this nationwide initiative is to raise $10 million to support the many therapeutic horseback riding centers in Israel and provide scholarships so that anyone who would benefit from this type of therapy will be able to receive it.
