Jewish National Fund Joins Second Annual National #GIVINGTUESDAY Movement

JEWISH NATIONAL FUND JOINS SECOND ANNUAL NATIONAL #GIVINGTUESDAY™ MOVEMENT,
ENCOURAGING A DIFFERENT KIND OF GIVING THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

November 19, 2013 – Boca Raton, FL–  On Tuesday December 3, 2013, charities, families, businesses and individuals are coming together to transform the way people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season. Jewish National Fund (JNF) is proud to be a partner in #GivingTuesday™. Your gift to JNF on #GivingTuesday™ will be matched by the generous contribution of the Gene and Marlene Epstein Humanitarian Fund.

“We have been drawn to Israel since our childhood and are always struck by the scope of JNF’s work,” said the Epsteins. “JNF is on the ground every day improving the lives of so many people and sharing its expertise with other countries, helping to make the world a better place. JNF has added 12% to Israel’s water economy with its cutting-edge water solutions, addressing short-term needs while always keeping in mind its long-term goals. We want to help JNF do more and help more people get involved. It is our honor to match every JNF contribution to water on #GivingTuesday™.”

Held on the heels of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday™ is a campaign to create a national day of giving at the start of the annual holiday season. It celebrates and encourages charitable activities that support nonprofit organizations. The inaugural #GivingTuesday in 2012 garnered national media attention, trended on social media, and showed that a broad-based partnership with grassroots support can tap into a popular desire to give back to our communities and support organizations working on a broad range of issues.

It’s a simple idea. Find a way for your family, your community, or your company to join in acts of giving. Tell everyone you can about what you are doing and why it matters. Join a national celebration of our great tradition of generosity, and create new ways to give more, give better and give smarter.

“We are thrilled to be taking part in #GivingTuesday for the second year in a row,” said JNF CEO Russell Robinson. “We hope our #GivingTuesday partnership will help us work towards our campaign goals, including our one billion dollar campaign over the next decade. We are inspired by the philosophy behind #GivingTuesday – to find new ways of giving during the holiday season and encourage everyday philanthropy.”

#GivingTuesday™ is an initiative spearheaded by New York’s 92nd St Y. Partners include United Nations Foundation, JCPenny, Skype, Microsoft, Do Something, The Salvation Army and thousands more. More information can be found at givingtuesday.org.

JEWISH NATIONAL FUND (JNF) began in 1901 as a dream and vision to reestablish a homeland in Israel for Jewish people everywhere. Jews the world over collected coins in iconic JNF Blue Boxes, purchasing land and planting trees until ultimately, their dream of a Jewish homeland was a reality. JNF gives all generations of Jews a unique voice in building a prosperous future for the land of Israel and its people.

JNF embodies both heart and action; our work is varied in scope but singular in benefit. We strive to bring an enhanced quality of life to all of Israel’s residents, and translate these advancements to the world beyond. JNF is greening the desert with millions of trees, building thousands of parks, creating new communities and cities for generations of Israelis to call home, bolstering Israel’s water supply, helping develop innovative arid-agriculture techniques, and educating both young and old about the founding and importance of Israel and Zionism.

JNF is a registered 501(c)(3) organization and United Nations NGO, which continuously earns top ratings from charity overseers.
