September 20, 2011 – Cincinnati, OH – Yesterday, Jewish National Fund (JNF) concluded its most successful National Conference to date, drawing national attention and a record number of attendees. This marked the first time the conference, which took place September 18-19 at the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza, was held in Cincinnati.
John Boehner, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, addressed the opening plenary, by pledging his support to Israel.
“Supporting Israel and her people has been the policy of this nation since Harry Truman sat in the Oval Office,” Boehner said in his address. “Our commitment to Israel should be no less strong today. If anything, it should be stronger than it’s ever been. And, with your help, it will be. It must be.”
Cincinnati’s annual Tree of Life™ dinner was Sunday night’s gala event, honoring local philanthropists Nina and Edward Paul. The gala featured Master of Ceremonies Hal Linden; special guest Mark Mallory, Mayor of Cincinnati; and keynote speaker Larry King, who was honored with the Shalom Peace award.
The two-day conference was a huge success, with engaging presentations from Ido Aharoni, Consul General of Israel to New York; Bret Stephens, Deputy Editorial Page Editor and Principal Columnist on Foreign Affairs for The Wall Street Journal; a special video message from Michael Oren, Israeli Ambassador to the U.S.; and many more.

JEWISH NATIONAL FUND (JNF) began in 1901 as a dream and vision to reestablish a homeland in Israel for Jewish people everywhere. Jews the world over collected coins in iconic JNF Blue Boxes, purchasing land and planting trees until ultimately, their dream of a Jewish homeland was a reality. JNF gives all generations of Jews a unique voice in building a prosperous future for the land of Israel and its people.
JNF embodies both heart and action; our work is varied in scope but singular in benefit. We strive to bring an enhanced quality of life to all of Israel’s residents, and translate these advancements to the world beyond. JNF is greening the desert with millions of trees, building thousands of parks, creating new communities and cities for generations of Israelis to call home, bolstering Israel’s water supply, helping develop innovative arid-agriculture techniques, and educating both young and old about the founding and importance of Israel and Zionism.
JNF is a registered 501(c)(3) organization and United Nations NGO, which continuously earns top ratings from charity overseers.
