Tour Championship to be a part of JNF’s first Golf Mission to Israel

March 19, 2013New York, NY – Beginning May 2013, Jewish National Fund (JNF) will host its International Golf Tour: The Herzl Tour in four cities across the U.S. culminating in the tour championship - The EL AL Cup - two days of golf and a tournament taking place at the Golf Club of Caesarea in Israel as a part of the first-ever JNF Golf Mission to Israel.

The tour will kick-off on May 13 at the Los Angeles Sherwood Country Club and then continue onto the following cities: June 10 at Chicago’s Conway Farms, June 17 at New York City/New Jersey’s Bayonne Golf Club, and August 13 at San Diego’s Del Mar Golf Club. Winners from the four local tournaments will fly to Israel for free, courtesy of EL AL Airlines where they will compete for the EL AL Cup at Caesarea Golf Club.

“Everyone wants to be a professional golfer, but it’s pretty unlikely for most people,” said Ari Wise, event co-chair of the highly successful JNF Bayonne Invitational that takes place every summer in Bayonne, New Jersey. “What our event does, because it’s so high-end and great attention is given to every detail, is give everyone the chance to feel like they’re on tour for the day.”

While the four tournaments across the country will provide the opportunity for participants to feel like they’re on a PGA tour, the chance to win a trip to Israel and play in the EL AL Cup will drive the competition. This mission will be full of unique experiences that will excite everyone from the first time visitor to someone who calls Israel their second home, concluding with a two-day tournament that will decide the JNF Tour Champion.

JNF's Golf Mission is open to everyone, even those people who didn’t participate in the Herzl Tour.

“This is a very exciting opportunity to be a part of the first-ever JNF Golf Mission to Israel and I’m thrilled to be a chairperson for the event and experience it with those dedicated to the cause,” said Aaron Tucker, event chair of JNF’s Golf Mission. “The golf tour will bring people from all over the United States to help support Israel with a blend of an athletic event in a competitive environment.”

JEWISH NATIONAL FUND (JNF) began in 1901 as a dream and vision to reestablish a homeland in Israel for Jewish people everywhere. Jews the world over collected coins in iconic JNF Blue Boxes, purchasing land and planting trees until ultimately, their dream of a Jewish homeland was a reality. JNF gives all generations of Jews a unique voice in building a prosperous future for the land of Israel and its people.

JNF embodies both heart and action; our work is varied in scope but singular in benefit. We strive to bring an enhanced quality of life to all of Israel’s residents, and translate these advancements to the world beyond. JNF is greening the desert with millions of trees, building thousands of parks, creating new communities and cities for generations of Israelis to call home, bolstering Israel’s water supply, helping develop innovative arid-agriculture techniques, and educating both young and old about the founding and importance of Israel and Zionism.

JNF is a registered 501(c)(3) organization and United Nations NGO, which continuously earns top ratings from charity overseers.
