JEWISH NATIONAL FUND TO HOST HOLLYWOOD PRODUCERS PANEL
DISCUSSION AT NATIONAL CONFERENCE IN LA
New York, NY: September 4, 2014—Jewish National Fund (JNF) National Conference 2014 will welcome and host top Hollywood producers and executives in an entertainment panel discussion on September 12 at 3:00 p.m. at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
“For the first time ever JNF will bring together some of the biggest names in entertainment to explore in depth the connection between Hollywood and Israel,” said Russell F. Robinson, CEO of JNF. “All the panelists have personal ties to Israel and will deliver an informed professional perspective on the importance of the growing Israeli film industry.”
The JNF panel features some of Hollywood’s top executives and long-time supporters of Israel: Howard Gordon, Emmy® Award Winning Writer and Producer who is known for his hit shows Homeland, 24, and the X Files; Howard Rosenman, Academy Award-Winning producer (Family Man, Father of the Bride); Rick Rosen, Head of Television Department, William Morris Endeavor; and Gail Berman, Chairperson and CEO of The Jackal Group.
David Siegel, the Consul General of Israel in Los Angeles, will make opening remarks and the event will be moderated by Hal Linden, JNF’s national spokesperson and a star of stage and screen. Rob Schiller, a JNF Los Angeles board member and two-time Emmy® Award winning director will make introductions.
Panelists will share their professional experiences and perspectives on establishing and growing the film and television industry’s Hollywood-Israel connection, including the increase in private-funded filming, the aftermath of 9/11 and its impact on the industry and relations toward Israel, and how the recent crisis in Israel impacted the television and film industry.
Each of the panelists has a strong connection to Israel: Rosenman was one of the first Hollywood executives to teach American filmmaking techniques to Israelis and is currently producing three films with content from Israel; Rick Rosen has been instrumental in negotiating television projects with Israel working behind the scenes to make deals; Gail Berman is working as a producer with Keshet International on the USA Network miniseries “Dig,” which up until recently was being filmed in Israel; and Howard Gordon’s most recent projects include “Tyrant,” also filmed in Israel until the war in Gaza stopped production there.
The panel will take place during JNF’s National Conference, which brings together hundreds of committed Jewish leaders from across the country to learn about the key issues of the day that affect Jews in the U.S. and in Israel as well as JNF’s ongoing vital work for the land and people of Israel.
The star-studded weekend runs Friday, Sept. 12 to Monday, Sept. 15. The Sunday Gala will feature Grammy® and Emmy® Award Winning Composer Charles Fox as he is honored with the Tree of Life Award™ and Governor Jerry Brown and his wife Anne Gust Brown, who will be presented with JNF’s Green Innovation Award. On Monday, at 9:00 a.m., the conference closes with a keynote address delivered by Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman to 1,300 participants and members of the greater Los Angeles community.

JEWISH NATIONAL FUND (JNF) began in 1901 as a dream and vision to reestablish a homeland in Israel for Jewish people everywhere. Jews the world over collected coins in iconic JNF Blue Boxes, purchasing land and planting trees until ultimately, their dream of a Jewish homeland was a reality. JNF gives all generations of Jews a unique voice in building a prosperous future for the land of Israel and its people.
JNF embodies both heart and action; our work is varied in scope but singular in benefit. We strive to bring an enhanced quality of life to all of Israel’s residents, and translate these advancements to the world beyond. JNF is greening the desert with millions of trees, building thousands of parks, creating new communities and cities for generations of Israelis to call home, bolstering Israel’s water supply, helping develop innovative arid-agriculture techniques, and educating both young and old about the founding and importance of Israel and Zionism.
JNF is a registered 501(c)(3) organization and United Nations NGO, which continuously earns top ratings from charity overseers.
