New York, NY: February 19, 2015 - Jewish National Fund (JNF) is pleased to announce Mila Lukova of Chagrin Falls, Ohio as the winner of the “JNF Tu BiShvat Sweepstakes” in celebration of the Jewish New Year for trees.
JNF partnered with EL AL Airlines and the Carlton Hotel Tel Aviv for an exciting online raffle to win a trip of a lifetime. Participants were given the opportunity to enter the raffle by planting a tree through jnf.org between January 26, 2015 at 12:00:00 a.m. EST and February 4, 2015 at 11:59:59 p.m. EST, with the prize being two free round-trip tickets to Israel, courtesy of EL AL, and a free two-night stay at the Carlton Tel Aviv, breakfast included. Two runners-up received a JNF E-Z Tree account of 10 free trees each.
Lukova purchased three memorial plaques (360 trees per plaque) in memory of her mother Bella Rutman, brother Demitry, and family members from the small Russian town of Lukov, automatically entering her in the raffle.
A long-time donor who also purchases trees for such milestones as birthdays and deaths, Lukova remarked, “JNF is the only place that offers plaques to memorialize loved ones on a Wall of Remembrance in Jerusalem. I am so happy to hear this wonderful news because I was planning to go to Israel to see the plaques this spring. I liked the idea of having a spot that showcases eternal life that is in Jerusalem. I’ve traveled there some 20 times and it always feels like home to me.”
Mindy Feigenbaum, JNF’s director of Northern Ohio said, “Mila is a very giving person and has always taken care of others. She loves to travel and was hoping to go to Israel this spring. JNF has helped her dream come true.”

JEWISH NATIONAL FUND (JNF) began in 1901 as a dream and vision to reestablish a homeland in Israel for Jewish people everywhere. Jews the world over collected coins in iconic JNF Blue Boxes, purchasing land and planting trees until ultimately, their dream of a Jewish homeland was a reality. JNF gives all generations of Jews a unique voice in building a prosperous future for the land of Israel and its people.
JNF embodies both heart and action; our work is varied in scope but singular in benefit. We strive to bring an enhanced quality of life to all of Israel’s residents, and translate these advancements to the world beyond. JNF is greening the desert with millions of trees, building thousands of parks, creating new communities and cities for generations of Israelis to call home, bolstering Israel’s water supply, helping develop innovative arid-agriculture techniques, and educating both young and old about the founding and importance of Israel and Zionism.
