Harold L. Kaplan (Highland Park, IL) is a partner with Foley & Lardner LLP, where he is the leader of the firm's Corporate Trust and Bondholders Rights Team and a member of the firm's Bankruptcy & Business Reorganizations Practice. Over the last three decades, Mr. Kaplan has served as a leader in the Chicago legal community and Jewish philanthropic community, as well as a mainstay of the local and national bankruptcy bar. He is recognized as one of Chambers USA's "Leaders in their Field" for bankruptcy and, particularly, as one of the leading lawyers in the country representing indenture trustees in major national bond defaults, in addition to the rest of his broad-based practice. In addition to serving as Chair of the major Chicago-based law firm Gardner Carton & Douglas (2004-2006) and being instrumental in its merger in early 2007, Harold has served as a committee Chair and in other leadership positions with the American Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association and other organizations. Mr. Kaplan served on the Boards of Jewish causes throughout Chicago and Israel, particularly serving as Co-Chair of JNF’s National Lawyers for Israel, on the JNF Parsons Water Fund Board, on the JNF Chicago Board and as one of the lead gifts towards the building of the JNF Indoor Playground in Sderot.
