Assistant Vice President, Community and Congregational Relations
Ira Bartfield (Washington, DC) recently retired after more than 40 years on the staff of the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC, one of the world’s finest art museums where he held supervisory positions in the Education and Visual Services departments. He serves as a senior vice president of B’nai B’rith International,sits on the boards of the Partnership for Jewish Life and Learning, and Gesher, a community Jewish day school in Virginia, served as his synagogue’s president, and on the board of the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, where he also served as chair of the Northern Virginia campaign. A long-time board member of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Washington, he served as chair of its Soviet Jewry committee and Northern Virginia Commission. Ira has served in many capacities at JNF—he has been a member of Makor since 2004; served as National Chair of the Community Campaign; the ‘Breakfast with JNF’ program; and the Go for the Green! campaign; and serves on the Executive Committee of the Washington, DC JNF board.
