Isaac Edry

Isaac and Nadav Tamir, Former Consul General of Israel to New England

Isaac Edry has been an instrumental member of New England’s Board of Directors since 2002. New England’s first Israeli Board member, a welcome and needed addition, Isaac brings unique perspective. "I grew up in Israel; it's a country that I love," shared Isaac. "It is so important for Americans to support Israel."

"Soon after I arrived in Boston as JNF's New England Emissary, I heard that Isaac Edry and Ami Joseph were living in Boston,” said Former KKL/JNF Emissary, Col. (Res.) Sharon Davidovich. “I was excited, called them and we met after not having seen each other in 18 years! As Commander of a Paratroop Company, we served together during the Lebanon War in Israel and in Lebanon. When they heard about my position in Boston, like good friends, they immediately understood the urgency of being true leaders. They became major donors and joined the Board of Directors. Together, we founded the first Israeli Committee in America and began our crusade to educate Israelis about philanthropy; holding events and raising money from the Israeli community. Isaac and Ami are true examples of lay leadership."

Isaac's first exposure to JNF was at a conference with the Shlichim (Emissaries) in New York. The topic was how to engage the Israeli- American community. One way, they determined, was to host social events, and New England's Tu Bishvat Seder was born. "The first seder had 200 people, and it has grown annually," said Isaac.

Isaac has been influential in engaging Israelis in New England to really understand the critical work of this organization. He understands the need for Israelis who lead fulfilling lives in America to never forget their roots.

Isaac leads by example and quickly rose to the ranks of Executive Board Member and VP of the Israeli Community.

Isaac is the co-owner of Isaac's Moving and Storage, which has been serving the Boston and Philadelphia areas since 1988. What started out as 2 men, one truck and a dream, has turned into one of the best independent moving companies in the country. Working with partner and JNF donor Ami Joseph, serving families and businesses all around the country, they have become one of the most respected international moving companies in the world, winning an induction into the exclusive FIDI-FAIM organization 2 years ago.

Isaac and his wife, Ilana have three children, Ben, Shelly and Ron. He is a proud member of the Herzl Society, JNF's major donor's society.
