Dear Friends,
My wife, Frances, and I recently returned from a JNF trip to Israel and I wanted to take a moment to let you know how wonderful it was and how much it meant to us. The opportunity to see Israel through JNF's eyes brought together biblical and current Israel in ways I never thought possible.
We toured the entire country, experiencing things I'd previously only read about. And let me tell you, there is no substitute for actually being there. From the Western Wall to the Dead Sea, Israel is certainly about being Jewish, but it's also about history, myth, and the power of a people, our people, who would not be denied a homeland.
You'll be pleased to discover that JNF offers trips for all kinds of travelers. There are trips for first-timers who want to see everything and participate in Israeli customs, for people who simply want to relax and enjoy themselves, for seniors, for families, for college students, for young professionals, and for singles. While Frances and I were there, we were able to see a number of areas that really helped us to understand the true dedication that JNF has to important environmental issues - especially to serious water development. We visited dams and river restoration sites where Israelis have developed so many ways to use and reuse the precious water they have. We saw reservoirs throughout Israel, including in the desert, that capture the rain and flood water and will enable people, animals, and plants to grow now and in the future.
I cannot possibly describe here all of the ways in which our visit to Israel touched Frances and me. But I can encourage you with all of my heart to take part in any one of the trips JNF designs. If you've been thinking of visiting Israel, stop thinking and go. You'll never be the same.
