Our Projects in Israel

  • Forestry & Ecology

JNF has planted more than 240 million trees and developed more than 250,000 acres of land since 1901, greening the landscape of Israel and preserving vital ecosystems. JNF’s forestry expertise and commitment to environmental protection makes it one of only two countries to end the 20th century with more trees than it had at the start. Learn more...

  • Water

Our 200 dams, reservoirs and water treatment plants enable Israel to use more of its available fresh water resources, even with one of the lowest consumption rates in the world. JNF scientists have pioneered techniques for drip irrigation and water recycling, freeing up enough water to meet the needs of 1.2 million Israelis each year. Learn more...

  • Community Development

JNF has built the infrastructure necessary to create and support 1,000 communities throughout Israel with a focus on revitalizing Israel's northern and southern regions. As Israel's population expands, providing affordable housing opportunities and supporting the economic growth of these regions is more vital than ever. Learn more...

  • Security

JNF has built bypass roads along the border with Lebanon, so children and their parents can travel to school and work, shielded from harm. In addition, JNF has built three new security roads along the border with Gaza. These roads enable Israelis to live safely in their communities -- to travel, shop, and live life as normally as possible. Learn more...

  • Education

JNF engages, educates, and energizes American students by introducing them to the natural wonders of Israel and the importance of protecting the environment. JNF sponsors scholarships and programs at the university level, such as Caravan for Democracy, to strengthen the commitment to Israel. Our annual Alternative Spring Break trip brings college students and young professional to Israel to perform community service projects. JNF brings Israel programs to hundreds of synagogues, summer camps, and community centers across the country. Learn more...

  • Research & Development

A founding member of the International Arid Lands Consortium, JNF is at the forefront in finding solutions to the challenges presented by the Middle East's arid environment. JNF’s multi-million dollar yearly investment in Research & Development helps Israeli farmers produce miracles in the desert. And by sharing this cutting edge technology with arid and developing countries, JNF is helping improve the quality of life not only in Israel but around the world. Learn more...

  • Tourism & Recreation

JNF has built more than 1,000 parks, playgrounds and recreation areas for Israeli families and tourists to enjoy. Our parks feature walking trails, bike paths, archeological restorations, and facilities for people with disabilities. JNF also builds soldier/family picnic sites, where the heroic men and women of the Israel Defense Force can share precious time with their loved ones. Learn more...
