The Israel Heritage Experience

heritage

Israel's ancient history is widely known, with destinations like the Kotel and Masada featuring prominently on nearly every itinerary. But sites that tell of Israel's rich modern history are less renowned.

The Society for Preservation of Israel Heritage Sites (SPIHS) was established to protect the irreplaceable historical buildings and heritage sites associated with Israel’s re-birth. JNF is raising funds for the over 250 sites in need of restoration, and was instrumental in the renovation of Atlit Detention Camp, which included restoring an original ship that transported Jews during the illegal immigration of the British mandate.

Another project is the Ayalon Institute, a secret Haganah bullet factory in operation from 1946-48 an exciting tourist and educational destination.
