Caravan for Democracy

Caravan for Democracy drives constructive dialogue on college campuses throughout the United States by bringing different speakers from Israel to discuss the challenges Israel faces as the only democracy in the Middle East. Caravan for Democracy provides access to resources and opinions to encourage critical thinking about the issues affecting Israel, how it is covered in the media and its unique role in the region.

Caravan for Democracy's lecture series features prominent Israeli figures that represent a spectrum of political and philosophical thought. Speakers will address students and answer their questions, and will be available for briefings with faculty and campus media. Caravan for Democracy will target 20 campuses per semester and is sponsored by Jewish National Fund, Hamagshimim, and Media Watch International.

Information on Caravan for Democracy can be found at www.caravanfordemocracy.org, or call 1-800-969-5585 ext. 247, or e-mail caravan@jnf.org.

100,000 Trees for Ilan Ramon

College students across the country have been charged with planting 100,000 trees to help realize Ilan Ramon’s vision of 13 or 14 million new trees planted in Israel this year! It is through the dedication and hard work of running campus tree drives that you and many other college students are making the greatest impact in Israel.

There are two options in which you can plant trees. The first option is to collect money for the trees as an organization and you, the representative, would send one lump sum to JNF. The club or organization will receive a specialized plaque for any donation of $1,000 or more (56 trees).

The second option is for individual donors, where tree envelopes would be distributed among the members or students and they would send them directly to JNF. A certificate will be issued for each $18 tree planted and sent to the desired recipient. Certificates for Ilan Ramon will be delivered to his family in Israel.

Either option will allocate 10% of the funds into a scholarship for your college/organization. To participate in this program and to receive programming ideas that compliment the tree campaign, contact us at collegeactivists@jnf.org or at 212-879-9305 x245.
