Leading a Life With Meaning This Rosh Hashanah

Dr. Sol Lizerbram

“One of the secrets for a life with meaning is [to have] many beginnings,” said AICAT Arava International Center for Agriculture Training Executive Director, Hanni Arnon, in her Rosh Hashanah message to Jewish National Fund-USA’s supporters.

Arnon knows all about new beginnings. Through her leadership, the Jewish National Fund-USA affiliate brings 1,000 students from Africa and Asia together every year to learn about innovative Israeli agriculture techniques – skills that the students take back to their home communities to create prosperity and new realities.

“New beginnings bring…opportunity. New beginnings bring…hope and excitement. Rosh Hashanah 2020 is different. The whole world is different. And this year, we face [many] challenges. But we are all in this together. We are all strong. We are all united,” proclaimed Arnon!

AICAT “Partner Countries” include: Cambodia, Cape Verde, East Timor, Fiji, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, Vanuatu, Vietnam, Kenya, The Gambia as well as countries that Israel doesn’t share diplomatic relations with including Indonesia.

Perhaps inspired by the peaceful surrounds of Israel’s Negev Desert, Arnon believes the Jewish New Year provides an opportunity to take a breath and reflect. “Rosh Hashanah is a good opportunity to stop the daily race for a minute. To look back and check what we achieved – but then look forward and plan for the future.”

Thanks to AICAT and Jewish National Fund-USA, Israel continues to serve as “a light unto the nations” by providing new hope for developing communities around the world. “This year, we promise to continue to touch the people from developing countries in Asia and Africa…[as they] go back home after their training in the Arava and bring the change to their countries. We promise to make the world a better place,” said Arnon.

“[Together] with all AICAT family, we want to wish our friends and partners all over the world Shanah Tova!”
