A Message from Chairman, Robert Benedon

It is hard to believe how quickly the year has flown- Thanksgiving is right around the corner. We just returned to our respective communities from our wonderful National Conference in Phoenix. How difficult it was to comprehend the tragedy that our community suffered in Pittsburgh while we were together in Phoenix. We collectively as a Jewish People mourn the loss of life and our sense of community stretches around the globe to our homeland where our family there understands our loss so profoundly, yet now we worry for them yet again. We are indeed part of something much larger - The Jewish People.

Our 2019 campaign is off to a great start and as they say: Leadership Leads. Our Makor group spent an extra day in Phoenix honing our skills, gathering additional knowledge about our work in Israel and preparing to help educate, engage and raise money for Jewish National Fund. I encourage our professional staff to make use of their Makor resources to take our campaign to the next level. Makor members have been assigned to the regions and are eager to help.

We have amazing speaker resources at our disposal – several were showcased at the National Conference. Contact Cheryl Lefland to schedule a Speakers Bureau member to come to a parlor meeting, breakfast, lunch or dinner, and bring the wonderful work of Jewish National Fund to more people in your community. Together, we can indeed improve the lives of our family in Israel. Am Yisrael Chai!

Partner Visits

Israeli Partners provide a direct connection to JNF projects in Israel. Their specific projects vary, but all Partners offer an intriguing and enthusiastic view of what JNF does and why it makes a difference to the communities and people of Israel.

February is Jewish Disabilities & Awareness Month (JDAIM)

February is Jewish Disabilities & Awareness Month (JDAIM)
Jewish National Fund is proud of our involvement and investment in disabilities programs in Israel. We encourage every region to host one or more fundraising events during February - our passionate partners are eager to tell their stories.

Consider inviting Gaylee Schif of LOTEM during the end of January and beginning of February to promote LOTEM as a combined Tu B’bshvat/Disabilities resource.

Love horses? - Alon Aviel of Red Mountain Therapeutic Riding Center is available during the first half of February.

Avnet Kleiner and Yossi Kahana are based in NY – use them often throughout the month.

Book a Makor member for year-round solicitation and speaking

Makor (Hebrew for “source”) is a specially-trained group of highly involved Jewish National Fund lay leaders committed to JNF’s mission. Makor members are JNF National spokespeople, ambassadors, educators, and fundraisers.

They work collaboratively with professionals to identify prospective donors, conduct direct solicitations, and assist in educating interested parties about JNF, its action areas, and its partners.

Makor members advocate for JNF, provide training, education, and inspiration to community lay leaders, support local professionals, teach solicitation techniques, and are involved in outreach to communities outside of their own.

This year, each community has an assigned Makor member - please invite them for parlor meetings, synagogues and other engagements in addition to donation solicitations. Please welcome our Makor members and National Leaders into your communities to generate new leads and open doors – they are happy to do the ask.

Contact Cheryl Lefland at CLefland@jnf.org to book a Makor member.
