Bio

Born in Be’er Sheva, Israel, Orly Shalem moved to the U.S. in 1990 after serving as a lab technician in the Israel Defense Forces from 1986-1988. Shalem and her husband, Ron, settled in Baltimore in 1992, where she founded her company, Orly Moving Systems, Inc. and also began her involvement in the Baltimore Jewish community.
IN 2010, Shalem joined the Jewish National Fund family when she took an active interest in JNF’s Be’er Sheva River Park, a ground-breaking project taking place in her hometown. Shalem subsequently become increasingly involved in JNF and has co-chaired various fundraising events. In March 2016, she visited Israel on JNF’s One Billion Dollar Roadmap Mission, witnessing JNF's many accomplishments. In October 2016, she became President of JNF’s Maryland Board. In May 2017, Shalem became a graduate of the Jewish Leadership/Acharai program. She is the proud mother of three, one of whom has made aliyah and is serving in an elite IDF Special Forces unit.
