Barbara Sommer

Bio

After serving as Medical Director of Geriatric Psychiatry at the Stanford University School of Medicine for 16 years, Barbara Sommer (Atherton, CA) is presently an Associate Professor Emerita, continuing to see patients, publish book chapters and articles, and teach trainees. She serves as the head of the Israel Action Committee of Congregation Beth Jacob in Redwood City, CA, and is active in AIPAC, serving on the Northern California Board of Directors. Barbara is a member of JNF’s King Solomon Society, Sapphire Society and World Chairman’s Council and is a member of the Central Arava Task Force. She lives with her husband, Dr. Alan Fisher in Northern California. They have two adult sons who also have a strong sense of Jewish identity and love for Israel.
