Bio

An expert in energy management and environmental policy, Dr. Mark Bernstein is a visiting faculty member in the Department of Political Science and a member of the Future Fuels and Energy Initiative at USC. He has served as Director of the Center for Energy and the Environment at the University of Pennsylvania, was a senior policy researcher at the RAND Corporation, and was a principal energy policy analyst at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Washington, D.C. He is the author of Smog Alert: The Challenges of Battling Ozone Pollution, and served as Senior Energy Policy Analyst for the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Dr. Bernstein assisted the Housing Committee of the Mississippi Governors Commission to ensure an adequate supply of affordable housing in the Gulf Coast region.
