Arkady Pomerantz is the new Mayor of Maalot-Tarshiha. Born and raised in Azerbaijan , Arkady immigrated to Israel in 1990 and moved to Maalot-Tarshiha with his family in 2001. Mayor Pomerantz holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Derby University, as well as a diploma in mechanical engineering. He worked in the Israel Railways as a foreman and machine engineer. In 1999, he joined the political party of Israel Beiteinu, and in 2001 he became a member of the party's Central Committee. Between 2008–2013, he served as Deputy and Acting Mayor of Ma'alot-Tarshiha. Mayor Pomerantz is married and has three children.
