FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

Are all meals Kosher?
Yes. Every meal provided by JNF is kosher certified.
Are there any health regulations I need to take?
No special health regulations are required for U.S. citizens traveling to Israel. Of course, we recommend that you take every precaution to safeguard your health while you are abroad, and that you see your physician prior to your departure if you have any medical problems. Please be sure to inform JNF-USA of any serious medical condition which may require treatment during the mission.
Can I leave the group at any time?
If you depart the group for any reason during organized programming, JNF will not refund the cost for unused services including transportation, hotel reservations, sightseeing, meals, or any other tour activities.
Can JNF-USA Travel & Tours accommodate special dietary needs?
Yes. We do our best to accommodate all dietary needs. Upon registering you will have the option to indicate any special dietary needs and/or medical conditions you may have.
Do I need a visa to enter Israel?
The Israeli Population and Immigration Authority has announced that starting August 1, 2024, visitors holding any non-Israeli passport will not be able to enter Israel without a permit (called an ETA-IL) or visa. You can get the permit using this link: https://israel-entry.piba.gov.il/
How can I get travelers insurance while I am in Israel?
Traveler's insurance is available for an additional cost and offered by a third-party agency working in conjunction with JNF-USA.
How can I use my cellphone in Israel?
You can call your cell phone provider to see what international plans/packages they offer. Another option is to purchase or rent a pre-paid Israeli SIM card or cell phone from an external provider. Please keep in mind that Israel works on a different voltage than the U.S. so you will need to purchase an adapter plug in order to charge your device in Israel. The adapter should be 220/240 V/50Hz.
How many participants per hotel room?
Pricing is based on 2 people per room. If you would like to have your own room through the duration of the trip you will have to pay the single supplement cost.
Is airfare included?
No. Flights and pre- and post-tour extensions are not included but may be arranged upon request.
Is it safe to go?
Yes. Israel strongly encourages tourism and JNF-USA Travel & Tours works hard to provide a safe environment for all our trips. The security of our participants is #1 priority. Jewish National Fund-USA is always monitoring the situation 24/7 and our Israel office is constantly in touch with the IDF.
Is there a deposit required and when is the full payment due?
Yes. A deposit of $500 dollars is required for all trips that is refundable or can go towards the land cost of the trip. Full payment is due between 60-90 days prior to the start date of the trip.
What happens if JNF-USA cancels a trip?
In the event that the security situation changes and we must cancel the trip, we will let participants know as soon as possible and provide full refunds for any payments made. We will communicate alternative dates for future participation.
What if I want to come early or extend my trip?
Any extension arrangements (pre or post trip) can be made through a third-party agency working in conjunction with JNF. Please note that any extension costs are not included in the price of the trip and will be an additional cost.
What is the currency?
Israel uses the Shekel (NIS). The exchange rate is approximately 3.5 shekels to the dollar, but this can fluctuate.
What meals are provided?
Most meals are provided on all our trips and are included in the land cost. If a meal is not included, it will be noted on the itinerary.
When is the best time to travel to Israel?
We recommend Israel all year round! Weather in Israel can vary depending on season and location. Israel gets very hot in the summer so if you prefer cooler temperatures, consider traveling during the months of November to early March, although this time may incur some rain.
Where do participants come from?
Our trips are open to anyone, but the majority are from the U.S., and Canada.
Will I have any free time during the trip?
There is generally some built-in free time during the trip, although limited. If you would like to see anyone while in Israel you can do so whenever the itinerary indicates "on own" or "leisure". You may want to consider arriving early or extending your stay.
Will my credit card work in Israel
Yes. It is recommended to let your credit card company know you will be in Israel before you leave and ask if they charge international transaction fees.
Will the hotel and bus have WiFi?
Yes, most accommodations and all transportation vehicles have free WiFi.
