Don’t leave Israel without exploring these historical and informational sites and experiences!


1. Explore a whole new world in a single day with the JNF Bus Tour; leaves every Wednesday from Jerusalem. Where: Light Rail: Haturim Station, 206 Yaffo St., Jerusalem Time: Departs 7:45 am; Returns by 5:00 pm Cost: NIS 200($50) per person, including lunch. Registration required.


2. Visit the Ayalon Institute in Rehovot—the secret underground bullet factory that provided much-needed ammunition to Israeli troops from 1945 - 1948. Read more.


3. Get your hands dirty and plant some roots of your own at Neot Kedumim, the world's only biblical landscape preserve. Located just 10 minutes from Ben Gurion Airport and 20 minutes from Jerusalem, the Ceremonial Tree Planting Center offers you the opportunity to plant saplings that will later be transferred to sites in the reserve where they are needed most. Registration required.


4. Visit Atlit, the “illegal’ immigration detention camp. Located just south of Haifa, the 25-acre camp serves as a museum that tells the poignant story of a People desperate to start a new life in their homeland. A ship like those used, offers an experiential visit simulating a sea voyage demonstrating the hardships endured by the immigrants on their way to the Land of Israel. Read more.


5. Explore the Western Galilee and its hidden gems. Visit the Western Galilee Tourist Information Center to set up a day of new tastes, colors, and experiences. Read more.


6. Visit Ammunition Hill, site of the historic 1967 battle that led to the reunification of Jerusalem. Includes bunkers, 3D movie and museum. Read more.
