Paraplegic Tour Guide to Share Inspirational Message of Hope and Perseverance During Jewish Disabilities Awareness, Acceptance, & Inclusion Month

Philadelphia, Pa., February 8, 2021 — Throughout the month of February, Jewish National Fund-USA (JNF-USA) is highlighting the ongoing need to make more parks and forests accessible for everyone. Unfortunately, people with disabilities often struggle to access the best nature has to offer due to a lack of infrastructure and planning. This is where LOTEM comes in. LOTEM is the leading Israeli organization offering hiking trails and nature events accessible to everyone. On February 21, JNF-USA’s virtual event for young professionals ages 22-40 “Investing in Inclusion,” will feature keynote speaker Raz Rutman, a highly sought-after tour guide with LOTEM whose inspirational story of managing and living with disability will touch everyone’s heart and shine a light on the importance of disability advocacy.

This event is one of several that JNF-USA is hosting in recognition of Jewish Disabilities Awareness, Acceptance, & Inclusion Month (JDAAIM). Observed each February, JDAAIM was founded in 2009 by the Jewish Special Education International Consortium to raise awareness and encourage inclusion for people with disabilities and special needs.

“Raz exemplifies the idea that being disabled does not prevent someone from leading an active, fulfilling life, especially with the support of organizations like LOTEM,” said Danielle Hankin, President, JNFuture Philadelphia. JNF-USA is proud to support LOTEM, recognize JDAAIM, and educate Israel supporters on the importance of improving quality of life for individuals with disabilities.”
