Jewish National Fund-USA Congratulates Major General (Res.) Doron Almog on New Leadership Role

NEW YORK, N.Y., July 12, 2022 — Jewish National Fund-USA congratulates the founder of its affiliate, ADI Negev Nahalat Eran, Major General (Res.) Doron Almog, on his appointment to the role of Chairperson of the Executive of The Jewish Agency for Israel.

“Doron Almog is an Israeli hero in every sense of the word, yet we also consider him as one of our great friends and allies,” said Jewish National Fund-USA President, Dr. Sol Lizerbram. “For decades, he has fought for his country and for Jewish people everywhere. And after he left the battlefield, he has continued to fight for Israel’s most vulnerable through founding our affiliate, ADI Negev Nahalat Eran.”

“Jewish National Fund-USA remains proud to have been there in the first days when ADI Negev’s village was nothing more than a rocky desert with only a dream laid out on a blueprint,” explained Dr. Lizerbram. “Doron invited us to join them and to believe, and that’s what we did. Together we have established one of the greatest therapeutic and rehabilitative villages on the face of the earth for people with cognitive and other disabilities. There is nowhere else like it, and we should all be proud of what we have achieved. On behalf of Jewish National Fund-USA’s Ambassadors (lay leaders), Partners (donors), and Affiliates in Israel, I, together with our Chair, Jeffrey E. Levine, wish Doron a hearty Mazal Tov and best wishes as he leads The Jewish Agency for Israel into its next chapter.”

Jewish National Fund-USA Chief Executive Officer, Russell F. Robinson, echoed Dr. Lizerbram’s remarks, adding: “Our Blueprint Negev campaign, which was established 20 years ago with a vision to attract 500,000 new residents to Israel’s south required bold partners, and there are few individuals as bold or courageous as Doron Almog. He leads by example and passionately cares about every Jewish person. I could not think of anyone more suitable than him to take on this important role. I am proud to call him my friend.”

Jewish National Fund-USA looks forward to working closely with Major General (Res.) Almog, in his new role, as the organization’s World Zionist Village, an unprecedented 20-acre project to be constructed in Be’er Sheva, continues to take shape.

“Our World Zionist Village is not just a project of Jewish National Fund-USA but rather a plan that invites Jewish people everywhere to come to Israel to be part of a new conversation – one not about right or left, Israel or the Diaspora, religious or non-religious,” remarked Dr. Lizerbram. “Rather, our Village will be a place in which the next generation will continue a 4,000-year-old conversation about our shared values and common destiny. We look forward to engaging with organizations like The Jewish Agency as we inspire the next generation.”
