Banking on Israeli Real Estate

JNF-USA Event Spotlights Investment Opportunities & Lending Best Practices from One of the World’s Most Coveted Markets

CHICAGO, July 21, 2021 —Tel Aviv was recently named the second-most expensive city to purchase property according to Deloitte’s latest annual survey of the European housing market, yet Americans are continuing to invest in property in Israel at an increasingly rapid rate. Early investors are seeing huge returns on real estate acquisition, and there are no signs of it slowing down.

On July 29, Jewish National Fund-USA’s (JNF-USA) Real Estate Division will welcome a local and international panel of financial experts from Bank Leumi in Israel and Chicago to discuss the two dynamic real estate markets, real estate trends, the differences between real estate lending in Israel vs the U.S., and how strong real estate and financial industries have long been a foundation for success in both countries.

Bank Leumi is Israel’s largest bank and has been a driving force in Israel’s economic and industrial development since the bank’s establishment in 1902. The bank has only five branches in the U.S., including one on North LaSalle Street.

Chicago real estate exec Scott Gendell, President, Terraco, Inc., believes any Chicago residents who have even a passing interest in commercial or residential real estate in Israel shouldn’t miss this event.

“Israel remains one of the hottest real estate markets in the world. Much of that growth is fueled by members of Jewish communities in Europe, the U.S, and Latin America. Real estate investment in Israel makes economic sense and helps tether us emotionally to our ancestral homeland,” he said.

Guest speakers at the event include Jeff Steigelman, President, Chicago, Commercial Banking, Bank Leumi USA and Idan Shapira, Head of Participations & International Syndications, Bank Leumi Israel.

This event is complimentary. For more information on joining Jewish National Fund-USA’s Real Estate Division, email realestate@jnf.org.
