Palm Springs Philanthropists Unite to Support Study Abroad Program in Israel
RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif., May 1, 2024 — Recently, a group of dedicated philanthropists united in the Palm Springs home of Floyd and Andi Adelman for an intimate Jewish National Fund-USA event, where local leaders discussed Alexander Muss High School in Israel (Muss), the organization’s college-prep, study abroad in Israel experience for American teens.
Co-hosted by Jewish National Fund-USA Palm Springs Board Member Sheri & Jim Borax, and Muss Board Member Michael Feldman, the event highlighted Muss’ unique experiential Israel studies program which uses the land of Israel as a living and breathing classroom. “Muss’ learning experience is truly like no other in existence,” said Event Co-host Floyd Adelman. “I saw firsthand how the program changed the lives of my daughter and my grandson. Students don’t just learn Israeli history, they live it.”

With increased antisemitism on college campuses nationwide, leaders pointed out how Muss provides students with the tools necessary to combat Jew hatred wherever they encounter it while ensuring they are both educated and invested in Israel’s future.
“The need to instill our young students with positive experiences in Israel is more pressing than ever,” said Feldman. “Alexander Muss High School in Israel has a proven track record of connecting the next generation of Jewish leaders with the land and people of Israel. An investment in Muss is an investment in the future of Judaism.”
Speakers also touted Muss’ campuses in Hod Hasharon, just outside of Tel Aviv, and its brand-new, secure, state-of-the-art Muss South facility located in Be’er Sheva.
“Throughout the conflict, the overwhelming response we have gotten from our determined students is they feel completely safe living in their Israeli communities,” added Sheri Borax. “Many have even said they feel safer walking around in Israel than they do in America.”
This semester, despite the ongoing war, nearly 100 students are currently attending Muss, with even more expected to participate in both the fall semester and its various summer programs.
