President & Founder of MJW Investments to discuss how a SoCal nonprofit’s model for transitional housing may be key to solving LA’s homeless crisis

LOS ANGELES, Calif., May 3, 2021 — Mark J. Weinstein, the President and Founder of LA’s MJW Investments  — one of LA’s largest developers with a portfolio in excess of one billion dollars of multifamily and student housing properties — will be the keynote speaker at a Jewish National Fund-USA (JNF-USA) virtual event for business professionals in LA and the surrounding communities on May 4, where he will discuss how a private philanthropy’s model for transitional housing may be key to LA’s homeless epidemic.

Voted five times as one of the 500 Most Influential People in Los Angeles by the Los Angeles Business Journal, the real estate exec has maintained active associations and leadership with numerous civic and philanthropic groups. In addition to serving on the LA Advisory Council for JNF-USA's Real Estate Division and Vice Chair of AIPAC’s Real Estate Council, Weinstein is the National Multi Family Chair of the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO) global leadership community of chief executives. By extension, Mark is heavily involved in DignityMoves, YPO’s homelessness task force developed during the pandemic to help transition individuals out of homelessness to a better future.

“I have always wanted to help the less fortunate and repair the world when I see injustice. I have continued to witness the homeless epidemic get increasingly worse in LA and I believe this is one of the greatest social problems this city is facing. It’s both heartbreaking and bothersome. There is a tremendous opportunity to move the needle in homelessness and I am deeply humbled to be educating and hopefully recruiting LA’s finest to join us in finding a solution for this crisis,” said Weinstein.

The keynote speaker will discuss how DignityMoves’ transitional housing model provides LA’s homeless with a cost-effective, dignified place to sleep and support services to help them get back on their feet, as well as his professional success story, the opportunities that exist for community members to get involved, what he believes success looks like and how professionals in the real estate industry can be part of the solution.
