Israel and the Jewish world mobilized like never before in the wake of the October 7 terrorist attacks. The soldiers of a Jewish National Fund-USA-supported program that integrates young Israelis with disabilities into the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) quickly made it known that they were also ready to contribute to the war effort. Since then, they have been providing invaluable services alongside their IDF peers.

In one initiative, children with disabilities requested a lifeline: electronic tablets. These soldiers have since personally delivered almost 1,000 tablets, bringing education, entertainment, and connection to these children stuck at home, in bomb shelters, or in hotels. One mother of a child who received this special delivery shared that this was the best thing they could receive in this dark time. What’s more, the children and their parents are moved and inspired to see young adults with the same disabilities wearing the IDF uniform.

At the same time, soldiers on the front line were requesting equipment and supplies, everything from socks and underwear to flashlights and batteries. This dedicated group of soldiers stepped up again to help their brothers and sisters in arms. They collected, assemble, and delivered donated care packages to the frontlines. In doing so, they provided an essential contribution to the war effort and found an even greater purpose during this difficult time.

These soldiers know that their work is needed and appreciated and that they are making a difference—and that is worth everything.
