Community Honors Longtime Jewish National Fund-USA Fundraiser

NEW YORK – June 30, 2024: Forty-three-year veteran of the Jewish fundraising world, Howard “Howie” Ingram, was honored on June 30, 2024, at Long Israel’s Celebrate Israel Concert. As Jewish National Fund-USA’s Associate Executive Director on Long Island, Howie has worked tirelessly to connect his community to the land and people of Israel. The annual concert organized by the Nassau County Executive and JCRC-LI honors individuals who represent the four primary areas for which JCRC-LI strives: intra-work, inter-work, Israel, and government relations/security.

“Honestly, I was totally shocked and surprised by this honor,” explained Ingram. “I do not look for nor do I seek out such recognition, but if people believe what I have done to benefit Israel warrants being honored, then I am delighted beyond words to accept. My being honored also honors Jewish National Fund-USA and the people I have worked with for 43 years. Whatever I have accomplished would not be possible without great colleagues and our terrific ambassadors (lay leaders).”

Ingram's recognition comes at a time when Jewish and pro-Israel organizations have stepped up like never before in the wake of October 7. Within hours of the attack, Jewish National Fund-USA launched its Israel Resilience Campaign to support the immediate and long-term needs of Israeli communities devastated by the attacks. Through Ingram’s work, the Long Island philanthropic community contributed significant sums to the organization’s $60 million raised to date, which supports temporary accommodation needs for displaced Israelis, firefighting and civilian security equipment, education materials, employment needs, food security, and more.

Over the past eight months, Jewish National Fund-USA has sent over 3,000 supporters to Israel on volunteer missions. During the trips, participants clean up communities in Israel’s south, pick fruit and vegetables, and remediate buildings damaged during the October 7 carnage.

“Howie is a stalwart of our Zionist community who has a level of institutional and communal knowledge that is second to none,” said Jewish National Fund-USA Tri-State Executive Director Michael Feinman. “Howie’s ability to connect with anyone and talk about his passion for the land and people of Israel has enabled him to support our philanthropic investments in the Negev and Galilee greatly.”

Other honorees included Nassau County Assistant District Attorney Silvia Finkelstein, Nassau Country Police Department Detective Sargent Sabrina Gregg, and Gural JCC S.H.O.P. Director Rivkah Halpern.
