I recently returned from Israel, where I witnessed firsthand the incredible impact of our philanthropic investments. I realized that our Jewish community’s real superpower is not just that we survive, it’s that we never lose the will to thrive.
With this visit, I understood more clearly than ever the power of Jewish National Fund-USA’s “circles of impact.” It starts by touching individual lives, then goes on to strengthening communities, improving quality of life, and ultimately, developing our land of Israel into a beautiful source of inspiration for the whole world. Our projects are catalysts for lasting change.
Take our medical center in Kiryat Shmona. We started building it before October 7, and we have continued construction uninterrupted even while under Hezbollah rocket fire. But it’s not just a medical center. It is the security that when your baby spikes a fever at midnight, or if you get hurt, care can be found. It is the jobs it will bring, the population that will move there, the quality of life opportunities that will take root, and the region that will bloom.
Down south in the Arava, we have already seen this incredible effect play out successfully thanks to the Arava Medical Center which opened 10 years ago with Jewish National Fund-USA’s investment. Since then, the region has been able to attract more families with the promise of high-quality employment and easy access to medical services. Now, that medical center is growing and its circles of impact continue to expand.
Back up north, where construction of our Galilee Culinary Institute also continues, we are leveraging local resources, creating jobs, boosting tourism, and inspiring hope. Imagine the pride knowing that one of the most sought-after reservations in the country is at the restaurant in your own backyard! That the place where people come from around the world to learn about new innovations in culinary technique is the same place where they take a weekly entrepreneurship seminar.
As Jewish National Fund-USA’s president, I want to ensure that everyone understands the many layers of impact our work creates. It all starts with your support and involvement. Your love of Israel is the seed of the incredible work we do together. As a lay-led organization, you are the one who decides where the first drop in the pond goes and how far it will ripple out. Through our circles of impact, we will continue to transform our homeland’s future and keep its light shining bright.
