Jewish National Fund's
for Jewish Disabilities Awareness, Acceptance and Inclusion Month
Tuesday, February 23, 2021
7:00 - 8:00 pm (ET)
February is Jewish Disabilities Awareness, Acceptance and Inclusion Month. Join educators nationwide to learn about the valuable resources that JNF offers to enhance your effectiveness as an educator. You’ll have the opportunity to virtually meet your peers and JNF professionals, and hear from Director of JNF Task Force for Special Needs Yossi Kahana and Israel Emissary Oren Hefetz on what JNF is doing to invest in people with disabilities and why this work and its impact is so important. We will also provide you with materials to use in your classrooms year-round, and help you adapt your lesson plans to be accessible for those with special needs.
Participants will open their own E-Z Tree™ Account including two trees to plant in Israel and will receive two hours of Professional Development.
Director, Jewish National Fund Task Force for Special Needs
Yossi Kahana is the Director of Jewish National Fund’s Task Force on Disabilities, an umbrella and coordinating body for the range of JNF partnership programs that serve people with disabilities throughout Israel. In this capacity, Mr. Kahana ensures that JNF partners and programs are effective, high quality, and fiscally strong. Prior to joining Jewish National Fund, Mr. Kahana worked for 17 years at Aleh, Israel's largest network of residential facilities for children with severe physical and cognitive disabilities. A former paramedic with Magen David Adom, Mr. Kahana works tirelessly to breathe life into the mantra “Everybody belongs!”
Major (retd.) Oren Hefetz
Major (retd.) Oren Hefetz served as a helicopter pilot for more than 20 years, filling various positions in the Israeli Air Force, all of them in the field. By the end of his military career, Oren adopted a program called Special in Uniform that helps teens with special needs volunteer and draft into the army and to be able to serve with their own cohort.
