Kfar Giladi, Israel, March 31, 2026 — A CNN reporter and film crew sought immediate shelter in a Jewish National Fund-USA bomb shelter during a recent missile attack in northern Israel.
While reporting near Israel’s border with Lebanon, CNN’s Jim Sciutto and community volunteer Nisan Zeevi were in the middle of an interview when a siren sounded. Luckily, they were just feet away from the shelter, where Zeevi explained the sounds of missiles and the Iron Dome intercepting them. Nobody on the crew was hurt.

In Israel’s North, many residents live in what they call a “Zero Zone,” which means they have minimal or even no time to run to shelters when missiles are launched. "Sometimes we hear the boom and then we get the alert,” says Yaakov Selevan, deputy mayor of the Golan Heights. “In order for us to stay [in the region], we need to be strong."
Jewish National Fund-USA's decades of planning and strategy are actively protecting Israelis facing ongoing missile threats from the Iranian regime and its proxies. “We use the bomb shelter from Jewish National Fund-USA every day,” says Dor Pintel, a resident and farmer in the Galilee. “It allows us to keep going.”
In response to the current crisis, Jewish National Fund-USA has raised $10 million in the past four weeks as the organization rallies to meet both urgent and long-term needs. These efforts support not only bomb shelters, but also critical infrastructure, including fire trucks, resilience centers, and other emergency response resources.
Looking forward, the organization is planning to launch 15 Emergency Response Centers across Israel, with two already operating as command hubs during the current crisis, strengthening both immediate response and long-term resilience.
