Jewish National Fund-USA Leverages Nationwide Network to Support Israelis Under Fire

NEW YORK, June 17, 2025 — In the face of a national emergency, Jewish National Fund-USA has leveraged its nationwide network and resources in Israel to address the immediate and evolving needs of the country’s residents.

“Let’s send a message to our family in Israel: ‘You are not alone. Your pain is our pain. And we will never leave your side,’” said Jewish National Fund-USA President, Deb Lust Zaluda. “When our land and people hurt, we hurt. And today, the people of Israel need us more than ever.”

Throughout Israel, Jewish National Fund-USA has rapidly mobilized its network of community groups to support the civilian needs of the home front.

“It’s impossible to know what might happen in the coming days. However, we are working around the clock with our teams on the ground in Israel to help wherever possible,” said Jewish National Fund-USA CEO, Russell F. Robinson. “We are capable of responding in real time because of the existing infrastructure we already have in place—reflecting more than twenty years of philanthropic investment in the land of Israel for moments such as this.”

Since Friday, Jewish National Fund-USA’s network of volunteers has:

  • Launched an Emergency Childcare Framework: Over 50 trained educators are operating programs that serve more than 600 children of essential workers—including doctors, nurses, and first responders—providing stability and security so their parents can continue saving lives.
  • Activated Dozens of Rejuvenated Bomb Shelters: More than 30 communal shelters—previously cleaned, restored, and equipped—are now providing civilians with safe, dignified spaces during attacks.
  • Supported 1,500+ Isolated Elderly Israelis: Volunteers are delivering groceries, medicine, emotional support, and wellness checks to homebound seniors, many of whom have no nearby family.

But this is only the beginning. As the situation continues to evolve, Jewish National Fund-USA is expanding its efforts to secure and strengthen the civilian infrastructure that protects the people of Israel from within.

Ongoing Initiatives Include:

  • Equipping firefighters and emergency responders in high-risk towns with gear, vehicles, and supplies to face mounting threats head-on.
  • Bolstering emergency response centers with staff, communications tools, and operational support to ensure rapid deployment.
  • Providing mental health and trauma support in Israel’s border communities through resilience centers and trained professionals.
  • Supporting civilian security teams with critical resources and equipment to protect agricultural villages and small communities.
  • Assessing and upgrading bomb shelters in Israel’s North and South to ensure safe, accessible protection for all residents.
  • Rebuilding the organization’s Center for Olim (new immigrants) in Tel Aviv, which was damaged in recent attacks—a symbol that while buildings may fall, our mission only grows stronger.
  • Operation Hug: Preparing to bring parents of lone soldiers to Israel so they can embrace their children once airspace reopens.

“For over 124 years, we have been part of the fabric of the land and people of Israel,” added Robinson. “We’re talking about our home and our family—two central elements of our very being and identity. We will never give up on them!”

This is the moment to act—not just with words, but with deeds. Jewish National Fund-USA has always been there: yesterday, today, and tomorrow. But we cannot do it without your support.
