We still remember hosting our first JNFuture event at our home. There was music, drinks, and long conversations that stretched well into the night. Over ten years later, with two little kids and significantly less energy, life looks very different. But one thing that remains constant is our bullish Zionism and our dedication to the organization we believe supports the land and people of Israel more effectively than any other: Jewish National Fund-USA.
As our family grows and financial demands evolve, we’ve started thinking more intentionally about prioritizing and maximizing our giving, even as those financial needs seem to multiply by the day (kids are expensive!)
A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is an effective way to contribute appreciated stock without incurring capital gains taxes. It allows your donations to grow over time, meaning that when you're ready to give, you're donating more and making a greater impact.
However, our decision to create a DAF wasn’t just financial.
Giving Where It Counts — Especially After October 7
For us, Israel isn’t just a place; it’s a source of strength—one that feels more vital than ever in a post–October 7 world. That’s why we believe so deeply in Jewish National Fund-USA’s mission. They listen to Israelis on the ground and respond with urgency, precision, and impact. It’s not about what American Jews think Israel needs; it’s about what the people of Israel actually need.
From planting trees at the turn of the century to advancing water desalination and agricultural development, Jewish National Fund-USA evolves with the times. Today, in the wake of tragedy, they are helping rebuild entire communities in Israel’s North and South. This is real, tangible work — and we are proud to be part of it.
Giving That’s Simple and Broad
We appreciate the flexibility and user-friendliness of our Jewish National Fund DAF platform. It’s not just about supporting this incredible organization — though they’re at the heart of our giving. The platform lets us easily recommend grants to our synagogue and other eligible causes we support. It’s simple, seamless, and gives us full control over how we give.
Staying Connected to Our Roots
Aliyah was born and raised in Ra’anana. Though we now live in the U.S., the ache for home never fades. Giving through Jewish National Fund is more than just philanthropy — it’s a bridge to our roots. It keeps us connected to the land we love and the people who call it home.
A Jewish National Fund DAF is not just a financial tool for us. It’s a family value. It’s Zionism in action. And it’s one of the best decisions we’ve made in our 30s.
