DENVER, March 16, 2026 — Jewish National Fund-USA will host a powerful and inspiring evening on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, featuring Shelly Shem Tov, a mother whose unwavering determination and global advocacy helped bring her son, Omer Shem Tov, and other hostages home after 505 days in captivity.
When Omer, then just 20 years old, was violently taken hostage from the Nova Music Festival, Shelly’s world changed in an instant. Yet in the face of unimaginable fear and uncertainty, she refused to be silent. Shelly became one of the most recognized and influential voices of the Hostage and Missing Families Forum, channeling her pain into purpose as she fought tirelessly for the return of her son and every hostage still held in Gaza.
Supported by Jewish National Fund-USA’s steadfast partnership with the Forum, Shelly mobilized communities across the world, raised awareness at the highest levels, and inspired thousands to act. Her leadership, resilience, and refusal to give up became a beacon of hope for families everywhere enduring the same nightmare.
At this special program, Shelly will share her deeply personal journey, a story not only of a mother’s love, but of courage, persistence, and the power of community during the darkest of times. She will reflect on the 505 days she spent advocating for Omer’s freedom, the global movement that formed around the hostages, and the strength it takes to keep hope alive.
“Shelly Shem Tov’s story is one of unimaginable pain, but also extraordinary strength,” said Yaron Marcus, President, Jewish National Fund-USA Mountain States. “Throughout the 505 days her son was held hostage, she became a powerful voice for the hostages and their families. Her courage inspired people around the world to stand up, speak out, and demand action. We are honored to bring her message of resilience and hope to the Mountain States.”
The event is free to attend, though registration is required at jnf.org/strength.
